Banquet Captain

Job Details Job Location: Sheraton West Port Chalet - St Louis, MO 63146 Position Type: Full Time Salary Range: $21.00 Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Banquet Captain to lead our banquet service team and ensure exceptional guest experiences at our events. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in food service management, with expertise in supervising staff and managing banquet operations. This role requires excellent leadership skills, a passion for hospitality, and the ability to maintain high standards of food safety and service quality. Duties Oversee all aspects of banquet service, ensuring smooth operations from setup to breakdown. Train and manage banquet staff, providing guidance on service standards and food handling procedures. Coordinate with kitchen staff to ensure timely food preparation and presentation. Handle cash transactions accurately and manage POS systems such as Aloha POS or Micros POS. Maintain inventory control, ensuring that all supplies are stocked and available for events. Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and company policies regarding food production and handling. Provide exceptional customer service by addressing guest inquiries and resolving any issues that may arise during events. Assist in budgeting for events, ensuring cost‑effective management of resources while maintaining quality service. Collaborate with event planners to execute catering needs and special requests for guests. Qualifications Proven experience in a supervisory role within the food service industry, preferably in banquet or fine dining settings. Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques, culinary practices, and kitchen management. Familiarity with cash handling procedures and experience using POS systems (Aloha POS or Micros POS). Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop team members through training & development initiatives. Strong organizational skills with experience in inventory control and budgeting for events. Exceptional customer service skills with a focus on creating memorable guest experiences. Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining a positive attitude in a fast‑paced environment. Previous experience in hospitality management or restaurant management is preferred. Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices is essential. Experience in casual dining, quick service & fast food restaurants, or catering services is a plus. Background in barista or coffee service is advantageous.
