Job Summary

Step Down Unit Registered Nurse – Nights. This position provides care for patients requiring progressive monitoring and intervention, including cardiac conditions, post-cardiac catheterization recovery, respiratory distress, sepsis, gastrointestinal bleeding, and detoxification. The role requires management of titratable intravenous medications and collaboration with the healthcare team in an acute care setting.

Job Details

• Required Qualifications: Active registered nurse license required for submission; minimum of 1 year of experience; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA); Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA); electrocardiogram (EKG) course required.
• Preferred Qualifications: Post-cardiac catheterization experience and arterial line experience preferred.
• Schedule: Night shifts from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., 12-hour shifts, Monday through Thursday, with a minimum of 48 hours per week. No weekend shifts.
• Float: Float rotation may be required.
• Additional Information: Provides care for cardiac patients and those with non-ST-elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI), atrial fibrillation (AFib), congestive heart failure (CHF), gastrointestinal bleeding, detoxification needs, respiratory distress, and sepsis. Responsibilities include titrating nitroglycerin, diltiazem, insulin, heparin, and amiodarone infusions. The unit supports cardiac monitoring, with telemetry technicians reading the strips, and uses continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP), bilevel positive airway pressure (BiPAP), and high-flow oxygen therapy. Charge nurses may take a patient assignment.
