The Medical Group Management Association (MGMA is looking for a Product Owner - Business Platforms to join our Denver/hybrid team.

A Product Owner is the matrixed leader of an agile development team and is responsible for defining, prioritizing, and evaluating the work generated by a development team to help maximize end-user value. The role is highly collaborative, requiring regular communication with business stakeholders, developers, architects, operations, and other product teams. 

Essential Functions:

Product Ownership

• Serve as the primary business owner for CRM/ERP and integrated business platforms. 
• Own business processes and product lifecycle for ERP/CRM technologies.
• Maintain an expert level understanding of CRM/ERP system architecture, features, and integrations. 
• Prioritize and maintain the product backlog based on customer and business value, user/member/customer impact, strategic alignment, risk, effort, and dependencies to maximize return on the team's investment.  
• Participate and maintain data governance standards and validation procedures for CRM / ERP ecosystem. Monitor reporting accuracy and platform integrity.
• Maintain relationships and collaborate with internal and external teams responsible for CRM/ERP, MGMA website, Community Platforms (e.g. Higher Logic), reporting platforms, Learning Management Systems (LMS), accounting/ecommerce systems, and other integrated applications.
• Assess impacts of platform changes across connected systems.
• Support troubleshooting and root-cause analysis for business-critical issues.
• Advocate for sustainable architecture and integration practices.
• Continuously reassess priorities as new information, feedback, CX/UX signals/research, or shifting business needs emerge, and clearly communicate the rationale when priorities change.
• Maintain a knowledge base of documentation for CRM/ERP systems and processes. Establish clear ownership of product owners, operational teams, developers, and leaders. Emphasize institutional knowledge capture as well as process/workflow. 

Stakeholder Engagement

• Partner with business stakeholders to identify, scope and drive new initiatives and enhancements to existing processes.
• Work closely with product manager, customer/user experience (Cx/Ux), technology leaders, and business stakeholders to ensure alignment on product vision and roadmap for business platforms including ERP and CRM.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather and refine business and technical requirements for products.
• Translate business needs, requirements, and workflows into technical requirements.

Leadership and Influence

• Serve as the connective leader across a matrixed delivery POD (team), aligning and influencing CRM/ERP developers, architects, Cx/Ux, operations, and business stakeholders around a shared product vision without relying on direct authority.
• Champion CRM/ERP product vision, communicating the "why" behind priorities so the team understands how their work connects to organizational strategy and member/customer value.
• Foster a culture of psychological safety and continuous improvement, encouraging open dialogue, healthy debate, and candid feedback within the team.
• Make and communicate decisions with clarity and conviction, taking accountability for prioritization trade-offs and standing behind them while remaining open to new information.
• Navigate ambiguity and competing interests, mediating conflicting stakeholder needs and driving toward a clear, defensible path forward.
• Focus the team on outcomes over output, favoring incremental delivery of the highest-value capabilities over building complete functionality before release.

User Story/Use Case Development

• Document user stories and acceptance criteria and incorporate feedback through collaborative iterations with multiple stakeholders.
• Ensure that user stories align with the product vision and user needs.
• Validate that completed user stories meet the acceptance criteria through data analysis and system testing. 

Delivery Planning and Execution

• During sprint planning, collaborate with the development team to select backlog items for the sprint.
• Create and maintain a roadmap of future enhancements and initiatives.
• Accept or reject completed work based on acceptance criteria.
• Provide day-to-day prioritization of deliverables and activities to the team.

Development Process Facilitation

• Participate in agile events, such as stand-ups, retrospectives, and demos.
• Continuously refine the process to enhance team efficiency and product quality.

Other duties as required and necessary to ensure the success of the organization.

Requirements:

Knowledge, skills, and abilities (required unless otherwise noted):

• Ability to consistently promote, support, work, and act in a manner in support of MGMA’s mission, vision, and values/behaviors.
• Ability to read and understand technical documentation that conveys business systems architecture.
• Ability to speak with customers and members
• Experience with conflict resolution and soft skills. 
• Ability to write user stories, requirements, and acceptance criteria for front and back-end applications.
• Ability to perform data analysis of moderate complexity.
• Solid interpersonal, research, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, including the ability to interpret, conceptualize, and disseminate data/information in a readily understandable manner.

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in IT, Business Administration or related discipline.  

Experience:

• 5+ years of proven experience leading teams responsible for product development inclusive of applications/IT needs (CRM, ERP, HRS, etc.)  
• Experience in business analysis, solutions development, creating business requirements and delivering business capabilities. 
• Experience leveraging AI/ML tools and capabilities within CRM/ERP or business-platform environments to improve processes, insights, or user experience. 
• CRM administration and configuration experience (Required) 
• ERP administration and configuration experience (Required) 
• Microsoft Dynamics CRM/365 Business Central administration and configuration (Preferred) 
• Fluent in agile development processes and methodology. 

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted on a year for year basis.  

Additional Requirements/Licenses/Certifications:

• Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) preferred
• Must have reliable transportation.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.

This is a largely sedentary role, so employee must be able to remain in a sedentary position while focusing for extended periods of time throughout the workday. Position also requires occasional movement inside the office to access file cabinets, printers, etc. While performing the duties of this job, employee is regularly required to successfully navigate scenarios requiring the following operational abilities:

• Ability to operate PC/keyboard and other office productivity equipment
• Ability to position self to traverse/navigate around typical office setting
• Ability pull/push, lift, open/close, grasp/manipulate, transport up to 10 lbs .

The approximate salary range for this position is $105,000- $120,000 , depending on the skills, education, and experience of the candidate.
