Cyber Detection Engineer, Lead

Cyber Security Detection Engineer As a Cyber Security Detection Engineer at Toyota Financial Services, you will focus on identifying and mitigating cyber threats through the development of detection mechanisms. Key Responsibilities Design and implement detection systems to detect malicious activities and behaviors. Develop and maintain detection rules across SIEM, EDR, anti‑ransomware, cloud, network, identity, and other security products. Analyze and refine false positives and true positives to improve rule effectiveness. Leverage threat intelligence from the CTI team to inform detection strategies. Collaborate with threat hunters, incident response, and security engineering to automate detections and ensure required log sources. Engage in continuous learning and adapt detection strategies to evolving threats, including AI‑based vectors. Conduct current detection logic reviews and coordinate with teams on log ingestion to ensure detection viability. Participate in AI/ML and orchestration initiatives to enhance automation within the SOC. Support incident response by detecting and responding to malicious activities alongside SOC analysts. Employ CI/CD and detection‑as‑code practices to maintain a scalable, testable detection pipeline. Act as a lead and mentor junior SOC members in detection engineering concepts and implementations. Qualifications 3‑5 years of experience as a cybersecurity engineer. Demonstrated experience with detection and response using EDR, SIEM, anti‑ransomware, cloud, network, identity, and other security tools. Proficiency in query and scripting languages such as CQL, SQL, KQL, SPL, EQL, Yara, Bash, and Python. Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent work experience.
