This is a full-time, onsite, BioPharma Group Leader position located in Oakdale, MN, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Compensation: $60,000 - $70,000 per year The salary for this position reflects a variety of factors. Compensation will be determined based on the candidate’s geographic location, relevant experience, education, skills, and alignment with internal equity. SUMMARY Responsible for the day-to-day management of the technical section assigned, typically consisting of approximately four to ten technical staff members. Plans, coordinates, and directs operations of the assigned technical section to meet client timelines, ensure data quality, and deliver analytical reports and protocols on time. Ensures individuals operate within the quality system and drives individual productivity. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Supervises staff, including hiring, training, performance evaluation, compensation recommendations, and performance management. Ensures employees have the training, tools, information, and materials needed to safely and effectively perform their responsibilities. Oversees broad operational areas including testing, scheduling, inventory, services, communication, and coordination of lab and field activities; provides technical and quality support to staff and clients. Assigns training, laboratory, and facility duties and monitors completion to ensure timeliness and accuracy. Documents client requirements clearly using appropriate formats (e.g., deviations, project logs, project requirements). Serves as primary liaison between Pace and the client; provides status updates and coordinates responses to feedback. Ensures accuracy of tests, databases, and reports through audits, queries, and operational reviews; resolves discrepancies with teams. Assists with equipment and facility maintenance and troubleshooting. Participates in writing, reviewing, and approving SOPs, calibration procedures, validation protocols, maintenance procedures, and related documentation. Oversees and reviews testing processes, forms, databases, and related materials. Provides analysis and guidance to staff and leadership regarding policies, programs, and operational practices. Reviews operational data and trends, develops insights, and presents recommendations to management. Supports development of departmental or cross-functional projects, including budgets, timelines, materials, and staffing. Ensures compliance with Pace and regulatory requirements; partners with Quality Assurance to enforce quality procedures. Contributes to team effectiveness by offering suggestions and actively participating in work teams. Promotes a positive and collaborative work environment through professional and respectful interactions. QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, or a closely related field; AND five (5) years of laboratory, field, or testing experience, including experience with complex operations; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Two (2) years of team leadership experience strongly preferred. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS Required Knowledge Strong interpersonal and leadership skills Strong communication and technical writing skills Advanced principles, practices, and techniques in laboratory or testing environments Broad understanding of operational oversight, policies, and procedures Problem-solving methods for complex technical issues Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and compliance requirements Proficiency with computer applications and systems Team collaboration principles Effective communication methods for staff and clients Business English, grammar, and punctuation Required Skills Supervising, evaluating employees, and making recommendations Training staff on policies and procedures Performing advanced technical and professional lab/testing duties Managing and overseeing diverse operational functions Participating in and leading projects Working both independently and collaboratively Interpreting and applying laws and regulations Preparing complex reports and correspondence Exercising independent judgment within guidelines Demonstrating tact and professionalism in interactions Delivering presentations to varied audiences Contributing to team goals and objectives Building and maintaining effective working relationships PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS Work requires mobility in laboratory and office settings, use of standard equipment, and the ability to sit for extended periods. May require exerting up to 20 pounds occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently to move objects. Requires vision to read materials and screens, and hearing and speech for communication in person and by phone. WORKING ENVIRONMENT Work is performed in both laboratory and office settings. Laboratory work may involve exposure to chemicals, fumes, gases, and related substances.
