About the Position

Job Opportunity – Progressive Care/Stepdown Registered Nurse – Virginia

Location: Central Virginia

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: Night shift, 36 or 48 hours per week available. Every other weekend and every other holiday required. 3:1 patient ratio. Block scheduling cannot be accommodated. Contract includes 24 hours of orientation.

Highlights:

• Progressive care/stepdown unit specializing in surgical and trauma patients
• 12-bed unit with daily census of 10 patients, serving adolescents, adults, and geriatric populations
• Epic EMR system required – must have prior experience
• Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, physical therapy, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
• Trauma Level I/II experience preferred; opportunity to work with diverse patient diagnoses including ortho trauma, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury
• Must adhere to facility float policy within scope of practice

Requirements:

• Active Virginia RN license (pending licenses accepted, must be in hand by Wednesday before start date)
• Minimum 1 year of nursing experience required
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Epic charting system experience required
• Experience with 3:1 patient ratios required
• Trauma Level I or II experience preferred
• BSN preferred
• Flu vaccination required (no exemptions)
• Nursys verification required with submission
• Professional references required

Clinical Skills Required:

• Telemetry and cardiac monitoring with interpretation of dysrhythmias
• Central line and PICC line care/management
• Arterial line management and blood product administration
• Chest tube management (Emerson/PleurEvac)
• Management of cardiac and vasoactive drips (no titration)
• Titration of insulin drips and IV insulin protocols
• High flow nasal cannula (HFNC) and BiPAP/CPAP management
• Tracheostomy care, feeding tube management, and wound care/wound vac
• PCA pumps, epidural analgesia, and procedural sedation monitoring
• IV access, phlebotomy, and peripheral line management

Time Off:

• Maximum 40 hours of time off approved per 13-week contract
• All requested time off must be included at submission; no additional requests approved after offer acceptance
• Labor Day weekend cannot be approved for time off
• Any pre-start vacation between sign date and start date must be disclosed upfront
