Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse – Thoracic, Cardiac, and Vascular Surgery Unit – Virginia

Start Date: September 28, 2026

Schedule: Night shift, 36 or 48 hours per week, 13-week assignment. Every other weekend and every other holiday required. Block scheduling cannot be accommodated.

Highlights:

• 28-bed unit featuring 22 acute telemetry beds and 6 intermediate care beds serving thoracic, cardiac, and vascular surgical patients
• Patient ratios of 4-5:1 in acute care and 3:1 in intermediate care
• Advanced monitoring for post-operative patients including fresh lobectomies, CABG/valve procedures, AAA repairs, heart and lung transplants, and patients receiving thrombolytic therapy
• Epic electronic medical records system required
• 36 hours of orientation provided
• Up to 40 hours of approved time off available during contract (not available around July 4th)

Requirements:

• Active Virginia RN license (pending acceptable, must be in hand by Wednesday before start date)
• Minimum 2 years of acute care nursing experience required
• BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
• Epic charting system experience required
• Skills in telemetry monitoring, interpretation and management of cardiac dysrhythmias
• Experience with arterial lines, chest tubes, epidurals, and patient-controlled analgesia preferred
• Charge nurse experience preferred
• Flu vaccine required (no exemptions)
• Willingness to float within scope of practice as needed
