About the Position

Job Opportunity – Medical Surgical Nurse – Virginia

Start Date: September 28, 2026

Schedule: Days, 36 or 48 hours per week, 13-week assignment, every other weekend and holiday required

Highlights:

• 17-bed medical surgical unit with 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Diverse patient population including diabetes, sickle cell crisis, COPD exacerbations, ESRD with pulmonary hypertension, wound care, and various medical diagnoses
• Epic EMR system required for all candidates
• Patients admitted from Emergency Department, Medical ICU, clinics, outside hospitals, and nursing facilities
• Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV Teams, Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Pharmacy, and Rapid Response Teams
• Strong professional practice model with emphasis on quality outcomes and team collaboration

Requirements:

• Active Virginia RN license (pending licenses accepted, must be in hand by Wednesday before start date)
• BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
• Minimum 1 year of nursing experience required
• Epic charting system experience required
• Flu vaccination required (no exemptions)
• Experience with telemetry, starting and maintaining IVs, blood product administration, central line management, tracheostomy care, and interpretation of dysrhythmias preferred
• Community hospital, LTAC, and Trauma Level I or II experience preferred
• BSN preferred
• Must adhere to facility float policy within scope of practice
