Job Opportunity – Medical-Surgical/Telemetry Registered Nurse – Virginia

Start Date: September 14, 2026

Location: Central Virginia

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: Night shift, 36 or 48 hours per week, 13-week assignment. Every other weekend and every other holiday required. Patient ratio 1:4 on a 12-bed unit. Block scheduling cannot be accommodated.

Highlights:

• Acute care MS/Telemetry unit with diverse case mix including respiratory illnesses, renal conditions, diabetes, sepsis, cellulitis, infections, heart failure, sickle cell disease, and cystic fibrosis
• Epic charting system; prior Epic experience required
• Strong interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, physical therapy, pharmacy, rapid response teams, and more
• Opportunities to manage advanced skills including chest tubes, heparin and insulin protocols, tracheostomy care, wound vacs, and telemetry monitoring
• 24 hours of orientation provided with specialty-specific modules completed during onboarding
• Up to 40 hours of approved time off available during the contract

Requirements:

• Active Virginia RN license or pending (must be in hand by the Wednesday prior to start date)
• Minimum 1 year of recent acute care nursing experience
• Current BLS certification required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Experience with patient ratios of 1:5 or similar
• Flu vaccination required (no exemptions); COVID-19 vaccine not required
• Preferred: Previous charge nurse experience and Trauma Level I experience
• Must be willing to float within scope of practice as needed
• Core competencies: Telemetry interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, IV insulin and heparin protocols, tracheostomy care, chest tube management, PCA pumps, wound care/wound vacs, isolation precautions, and renal failure management
