About the Position

Job Opportunity – Medical/Surgical Telemetry Registered Nurse – Virginia

Start Date: October 2026

Location: Central Virginia

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: Days, 36 or 48 hours per week, 13-week assignment. Every other weekend and every other holiday required (must work 2 of 3 winter holidays). Block scheduling cannot be accommodated. Patient ratio 1:4. 48 hours orientation provided.

Highlights:

• 26-bed acute care unit with a diverse patient population focused on general surgery and trauma care
• 90% post-surgical patients, 10% medical diagnoses including trauma, emergency general surgery, surgical oncology, ENT, and plastic surgery
• Epic EMR experience required; all rooms equipped with cardiac monitoring, capnography, and continuous pulse oximetry
• Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, phlebotomy, pharmacy, and wound care specialists
• Telemetry monitoring managed by dedicated monitor techs; no strip verification required by bedside nurses
• Up to 40 hours approved for time off during the contract

Requirements:

• Valid Virginia RN license (pending licenses accepted; must be in hand by Wednesday before start date)
• Minimum 2 years of acute care RN experience; previous travel experience required
• Epic charting system experience required
• BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
• Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Competency with MS/Telemetry, central line care, chest tubes, wound vacs, feeding tubes, and titration of insulin drips
• Willingness to float to other acute care units within scope of practice
• BSN preferred
• Flu vaccine required (no exemptions); COVID-19 vaccine not required
