About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 06:45 - 19:15 Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum of 2 weeks in a relevant specialty License: Current RN license Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: Must have stepdown or progressive care experience Telemetry experience Experience with titratable or cardiac IV medications such as nitroglycerine, Cardizem, amiodarone, dopamine, dobutrex, insulin drip, heparin, bumex, and Lasix Description: This unit has a total of 40 beds. Day shift staff includes 1 charge nurse, 10 bedside nurses, 4 patient care technicians, and 1 unit secretary. Night shift staff includes 1 charge nurse, 10 bedside nurses, and 3 patient care technicians. Patient ratios are typically 1:4, with stretch staffing at a ratio of 1:5. Patients are treated for conditions such as congestive heart failure, myocardial infarction, chest pain, arrhythmia, pulmonary hypertension, valvular disease, endocarditis, diabetic ketoacidosis, and post-cardiac procedures. The unit is equipped with Zoll monitors, Baxter pumps, lift equipment, and bladder scanners. Electronic Medical Record system used is Cerner. Candidates with relief charge experience will be prioritized. Typical procedures performed on the unit include bedside cardioversion. Floating may be required to all medical-surgical units and stepdown units. Every other weekend is expected as part of the schedule.
