Project Manager I - Transportation

Responsibilities Develop project scope, fee quotations, and technical proposals in line with HNTB's Sophisticated Contracting Approach (SCA). Serve as the primary client liaison, managing project teams to deliver scope, schedule, and budgets on time and to the client’s satisfaction. Perform technical discipline tasks—analysis, reports, design, specifications, and production—for assigned projects. Implement the firm’s project delivery plan using HNTB's Sophisticated Delivery Approach (SDA), lead project management plan execution, and mentor team members. Coordinate project staffing—recruitment, development, retention, and succession—alongside performance and compensation reviews. Assist Client Service Leaders and pursuit champions with business development, building client relationships, and pursuing strategic and mini‑mega projects via HNTB's Sophisticated Sales Approach (SSA). Participate in proposal development, interview presentations, and industry/community presentations. Perform additional duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 8 years of relevant experience. Minimum 2 years of task‑management or Deputy Project Manager experience. Winning experience delivering smaller projects on-time, on-budget, with quality, and client satisfaction. Leadership of a smaller project or task order with minimal or no sub‑consultants. Proficiency with system tools for project management and delivery. Experience in applying HNTB’s Sophisticated processes to projects. Technical guidance to team and task leads, with partial technical work contributions. Preferred Credentials Master’s degree in Engineering. 10 years of relevant experience. Professional Engineer (PE) certification. AICP certification. Project Management Professional (PMP). Location & Compensation Locations: Rocky Hill, CT (Hartford) The approximate pay range for Rocky Hill, CT is $139,645.93 – $218,420.56. Nationwide pay range is $126,950.84 – $248,205.18. Actual compensation will depend on qualifications, experience, skills, and physical work location.
