About the Role

The Company is seeking an Assistant General Counsel with a focus on employment law to join their legal team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing legal advice and representation in a variety of areas, with a primary emphasis on employment issues. This includes advising on employee designation and pay-related matters, managing internal investigations and administrative hearings, and providing guidance on employee discipline and discharge. The role also involves day-to-day counseling on employment issues, supervising employment-related litigation, and advising on business transactions, intellectual property, student affairs, and privacy. Applicants must have a law degree from an accredited law school, be admitted to the Illinois bar, and have a minimum of 3 years' of legal experience, with at least 3 years' in employment law. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills are essential, as is the ability to work effectively as part of a team and build positive relationships. The ideal candidate will have a background in higher education law, be adept at juggling multiple projects, and demonstrate creativity, good judgment, and high ethical standards. The position requires a proactive individual with the initiative, intellectual curiosity, and the ability to manage shifting priorities.
