This position is responsible for the preparation and review of journal entries, account reconciliations, as well as management reporting and analysis necessary to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial statements. This position is also responsible for maintaining effective and efficient operating policies and procedures, with a focus on continuous improvement. This role is highly cross-functional and requires collaboration and partnership with a wide variety of teams across the business and add value through data-driven financial insights.Essential FunctionsPerform monthly close activities, such as prepare journal entries, roll-forwards, and reconciliations of GL accounts and maintain accurate supporting documentationReview of accounting transactions for appropriate accounting treatment according to US GAAPSupport business functions and respond timely to inquiriesParticipate in special projects as needed, such as accounting systems implementation.Data entry tasks, including entering & posting in the General LedgerOther accounting tasks as assigned by accounting managementAbility to work with and act in utmost confidentiality with sensitive companyAdditional duties and responsibilities as assigned, including but not limited to continuously growing in alignment with the Company’s core values, competencies, and skillsPrepare and support preparation of annual financial statements and related reporting packages, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and complianceCompile supporting schedules, roll-forwards, and variance analysis with clear, precise documentationAssist with consolidation activities, including intercompany reconciliations and eliminations across multiple entitiesSupport internal and external audit activities, including independent auditors, regulatory agencies, ensuring strong audit outcomes and proactive issue remediationContribute to technical accounting research and memo documentation for non-routine or complex transactionsIdentify, recommend, and implement opportunities to automate and streamline recurring accounting tasks, reconciliations, and reporting workflowsDocument processes and maintain up-to-date procedures to support scalability and cross-trainingContribute ideas and assist in implementing AI initiative and help translate concepts into practicable, repeatable workflowsPerform assigned tasks in accordance with established internal controls and support the design, implementation, and ongoing operation of effective controls over financial reportingIdentify control gaps or process weaknesses and escalate recommendations for remediationAdditional duties and responsibilities as assigned, including but not limited to continuously growing in alignment with the Company’s core values, competencies, and skills.Education QualificationsRequired Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent work experience Experience QualificationsRequired 3+ years of relevant experience in accounting and/or finance Preferred Great Plains/Dynamics Experience is a plus Skills and AbilitiesStrong knowledge of US GAAP Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities Excellent organizational, time management skills and multi-tasking ability Effective communication skills Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, particularly Microsoft Excel Proficiency in Generative AI Licenses and CertificationsCertified Public Accountant (CPA) - American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) Required All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or status as a protected veteran.#TheHeritageGroupSummaryLocation: Indianapolis, INType: Full time
