Oil and Gas Title Attorney

Job Overview A law firm seeks a highly motivated Oil and Gas Title Attorney to join their team in Texas. This full-time role involves providing expert legal services to clients in the oil and gas industry, ensuring compliance and protecting client interests. Duties Conduct title examinations to determine ownership of oil and gas properties. Analyze documents such as deeds, leases, and contracts to establish ownership rights. Draft title opinions identifying defects, liens, or issues affecting property ownership. Perform due diligence for oil and gas transactions, including mergers and acquisitions. Provide legal guidance on risks and strategies for mitigating issues in transactions. Draft, review, and negotiate agreements and contracts, ensuring legal compliance. Stay updated on relevant laws and regulations affecting the industry. Collaborate with litigation attorneys when legal action is necessary. Work collaboratively with team members to execute complex legal transactions. Meet quarterly billable requirement of 450 hours. Engage in continuous learning and professional development. Requirements Juris Doctor (JD) degree and active license. At least three years of experience drafting title opinions for Texas lands. Familiarity with preparing large, unit-wide division order ownerships. Strong commitment to ethical practice and client confidentiality. Excellent interpersonal communication skills. Passion for professional development and skill enhancement. Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize. Education Juris Doctor (JD) degree. Certifications Active legal license. Skills Expertise in oil and gas law. Strong analytical and organizational skills. Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
