We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Supervisor of Patient Accounts to guide, coordinate, and oversee our daily third-party billing and collections operations. In this essential leadership role, you will bridge the gap between technical data and daily operations by compiling statistical metrics, tracking accounts receivable, and identifying trends to drive continuous process improvements. Acting as a trusted technical resource, you will provide critical mentorship and guidance to our revenue cycle staff on complex billing and insurance follow-up workflows. Duties & Responsibilities Daily Operations & Staff Guidance Operational Oversight: Supervise and control daily billing and collections functions for all third-party and governmental agencies, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and regulatory compliance. Technical Guidance: Act as the primary escalation point, providing technical guidance and hands‑on assistance to revenue cycle staff tackling complex billing errors, unpaid claims, and intensive follow‑up activities. Vendor Management: Monitor and evaluate the performance of external collection agencies, including the comprehensive reconciliation of service inventories and vendor invoices. Performance Analytics: Compile, organize, and analyze weekly statistical data regarding staff productivity and quality metrics, proactively sharing trending insights with the management team. Financial Reporting: Review trial balance reports to monitor individual performance and necessary adjustments, and meticulously prepare the mandated Medicare Credit Balance Report on a quarterly basis. Bad Debt Management: Review pre‑collection reports and assist in preparing and auditing overdue accounts prior to their transfer to bad debt and outside collection agencies. Regulatory Compliance: Stay continually abreast of evolving governmental and third‑party payer billing and reimbursement regulations to maintain structural compliance across all platforms. Workflow Optimization: Assist the manager in updating department policies, designing new administrative procedures, and establishing strict operational controls to resolve discrepancies in payments. Staff Empowerment: Lead recruitment efforts, build training materials, maintain individual competency records, and actively manage performance discussions and staff development. Other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent. Experience Baseline: Minimum of three (3) years of successful, progressive experience in hospital patient accounts. Industry Knowledge: Deep, working knowledge of hospital billing systems, third‑party insurance reimbursement structures, and governmental regulations. Technical Onboarding: Must complete the mandatory Healthcare Business Insights (HBI) one‑time certification course during the onboarding phase prior to your official start date. System Aptitude: Proficiency in basic office equipment and comfortable operating central computer terminals/revenue software. Desired Qualifications Advanced Education: Associate degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, or Accounting from an accredited college or university is preferred. Clinical Terminology: Basic familiarity with medical terminology is helpful but not mandatory. Payer Engagement: Previous experience leading or participating directly in third‑party payer meetings to resolve systemic reimbursement bottlenecks. Location and Work Type Work Setting: 100% On‑site within a high‑performing healthcare financial management office. Schedule: Balanced, consistent daytime hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM (Enjoy a great work‑life balance with no required nights or on‑call). Salary Range: $69,257 – $103,897 annually (Commensurate with experience and qualifications).
