Employee Benefits Consultant - Voluntary Benefits

Position Summary The Voluntary Employee Benefits Consultant is responsible for driving top line premium growth, case count and producer recruiting across a territory that includes Orange County to Los Angeles, CA. The role involves working with national, regional, and local Employee Benefit Brokers, Consultants, General Agents, Technology Partners, and Enrollment Firms by consulting, training, educating, and motivating to meet sales objectives and ensure profitable growth. Key Responsibilities Establish and maintain consulting relationships with national, regional, and local broker partners for voluntary group and life insurance products, including long-term care. Serve as a subject‑matter expert, providing guidance on enrollment technology solutions and product offerings. Deliver training and ongoing development to producers, agencies, and general agents to support their growth. Collaborate with internal departments—Sales Support, Underwriting, Policyholder Services, Billing, Compliance, and Compensation—to achieve production goals. Analyze market trends, consult with producers to enhance their business, support recruiting and marketing initiatives, and provide feedback to implement corporate strategy. Qualifications Minimum 2 years of experience selling voluntary benefits. Established broker network within the territory. Bachelor’s degree preferred; life & health licensing required (must obtain if not currently licensed). Ability to travel 2-3 days per week within the territory. Compensation Salary Range: $125,000 – $250,000+ (base salary, commissions, and year‑end bonuses). Total compensation is based on performance and sales activity. The range may be increased based on performance and sales activity. Benefits Medical, dental, and vision coverage. 401(k) plan with matching company contributions. Annual incentive bonus plan. Generous paid time off including 11 holidays, 2 wellness days, and 8 volunteer hours annually. Paid parental leave and adoption/surrogacy assistance. Employee giving program that double matches donations to eligible nonprofits and schools. Eligibility to participate in an incentive program is subject to the rules governing the program and plan. Performance guarantees may be applied to roles with highly incentivized compensation plans for a specified period of time. The Standard is an affirmative action/equal opportunity employer.
