Transportation Engineer IV

ANNUALLY: $76,608.00 – $120,814.00

Nature of Work:  The Transportation Engineer IV-Traffic will perform mid-level professional transportation work. This position will assist the Team Leader and the Assistant District Engineer of Traffic in the preparation of highway construction projects for advertisement, including, but not limited to, field investigations, engineering studies, review of sign and pavement marking plans, roadway development plans, traffic impact analyses, cost estimates, work zone Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) approvals, and reports.

This position will respond to citizens for traffic-related concerns, including but not limited to signs, pavement markings, flex posts, speed, sidewalk, crosswalk, streetlights, traffic signals, and various operational issues that involve significant coordination with various SHA support divisions, engineering design consultants, other state and county agencies, and community representatives throughout the project development process.

The Transportation Engineer also assists in project development for the following programs: Major Projects- Fund 70, Fund 71, Fund 72; Safety and Resurfacing- Fund 77; Safety and Spot Improvement- Fund 76; Intersection Capacity Improvement- Fund 87; Crash Prevention Improvement- Fund 30; Urban Reconstruction- Fund 84; Retrofit Sidewalk Program- Fund 79; Bicycle Retrofit Improvement- Fund 88; District Engineer’s Quick Action; Drainage, Environmental Impact; Structures; Candidate Safety Improvement Location (CSIL); Wet Pavement/High Friction Surface Treatment; Retrofit Sidewalk Program- Fund 79; Bicycle Retrofit Improvement- Fund 88; District Engineer’s Quick Action; Drainage, Environmental Impact.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Possession of a bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited college or university.

Experience: Four (4) years of experience in professional engineering.

Licenses & Certifications:
Candidate must possess a motor vehicle operator’s license.
