About the College/Unit/Department The College of Family and Consumer Sciences, sixth largest at UGA in terms of undergraduate enrollment, is a student-centered college that emphasizes holistic student development and has grown rapidly in recent years to a current total enrollment of about 2,027 students. There are approximately 110 total faculty members in the College, where undergraduate and graduate degrees are offered in all areas of family and consumer sciences, as well as collaborative programs with other schools, colleges, centers, and institutes at the University. The College provides a comprehensive graduate program, offering master's and doctoral degrees in all four departments with a current enrollment of about 250 graduate students. Administratively, the College is comprised of four academic departments (Financial Planning, Housing and Consumer Economics; Nutritional Sciences; Human Development and Family Science; and Textiles, Merchandising and Interiors) and houses the Georgia Center for Developmental Science as a College- and University-wide research hub. International opportunities are strongly supported in the College and the University. The College of Family and Consumer Sciences invites internal applications for the position of Program Director for the Master's Program in Couple and Family Therapy program with a rank of Clinical Associate Professor or Clinical Professor as non-tenure track, fiscal year position with a 50% teaching, 40% administration, 5% research, and 5% service appointment to begin November 1, 2026. The Program Director will provide strategic leadership, administration, and oversight for the Couple and Family Therapy ( CFT ) Program while maintaining an active teaching role within the Department of Human Development and Family Science ( HDFS ). The Program Director will advance the quality, visibility, and reputation of the CFT master's program at the national and international levels; ensure compliance with Commission on Accreditation for Marriage and Family Therapy Education ( COAMFTE ) standards; and oversee curriculum, clinical training, program operations, facilities, services, and continuous quality improvement efforts. The position will serve as the primary liaison among the CFT Program, HDFS , COAMFTE , clinical partners, professional organizations, and community stakeholders, supporting student recruitment, admissions, orientation, practica, internships, and other experiential learning opportunities. The Program Director will collaborate with faculty, staff, community partners, and affiliated clinical programs to promote student success, maintain accreditation, strengthen professional partnerships, and advance the mission and strategic goals of the CFT Program. As a core faculty member in the Couple and Family Therapy ( CFT ) master's program, the successful candidate will teach four undergraduate and/or graduate courses each academic year and provide classroom instruction, academic advising, mentorship, and supervision of applied and clinical learning experiences for students in the bachelor's, dual-degree (BS/MS), and master's programs. Teaching assignments may include courses within the Behavioral Health Science minor and the CFT master's program. The Program Director will ensure that curriculum, clinical training, and student learning experiences align with COAMFTE accreditation standards and disciplinary best practices. Provide strategic leadership and administrative oversight for the Couple and Family Therapy ( CFT ) Program. Ensure compliance with COAMFTE standards and accreditation requirements, including annual reporting, self-study preparation, site visit coordination, policy development, assessment, and continuous quality improvement efforts. Submits COAMFTE accreditation materials and oversees all reports to COAMFTE . Lead curriculum planning, review, and development in collaboration with CFT faculty to maintain program quality and accreditation compliance Oversee the clinical training program, including clinical experiences, supervision requirements, student evaluations, training documentation, and related program operations. Coordinate program operations, including course scheduling, faculty engagement, strategic planning activities, and program-related meetings and retreats. Coordinate graduate student recruitment, admissions, orientation, funding opportunities, assistantship assignments, and student success initiatives. Develop and maintain partnerships with community agencies, clinical training sites, professional organizations, and other stakeholders to support practicum, internship, and applied learning opportunities. Collaborate with the Love and Money Center and other clinical partners to support student training, policy development, clinic operations, and clinical education experiences. Oversee student records, graduate outcomes assessment, liability and insurance requirements, supervision documentation, and accreditation-related reporting. Coordinate practicum and internship placement processes, including training agreements, site relationships, student progress monitoring, and communication with site supervisors. Develop and submit budget proposal to the Department Head for accreditation maintenance, CFT credentials, and professional development activities for CFT students (e.g., guest speakers). Build collaborative relationships across the University, professional associations, and community organizations, while mentoring graduate students and supporting faculty development. Serve as a core faculty member by teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, providing academic advising, mentorship, and clinical supervision, supporting student development across degree programs, and contributing to teaching, scholarship, and service activities that advance the discipline. Participate in department, college, and university governance Engage in AAMFT and other relevant professional organizations. Support and develop opportunities for research collaboration, grants, contracts, and other externally funded initiatives that advance the mission of the program and department. Additional Requirements Candidates must have a graduate degree (either MS or PhD) in couple/marriage and family therapy in addition to the earned doctorate in HDFS or closely related field. Currently licensed as marriage and family therapist ( LMFT ) in the state of Georgia, and obtained AAMFT -approved supervisor status. At least 5 years of post-doctoral experience in relational/system practice. At least 5 years' experience of university-level teaching in undergraduate and/or graduate courses, including mentoring and supervising graduate students. Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, and/or Certification Have attained AAMFT -approved supervisor designation. Qualifications consistent with appointment at the rank of Clinical Associate Professor under Guidelines for Clinical Faculty Appointment and Promotion. Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies Record of successful university-level teaching, clinical supervision, and mentorship of graduate students. Record of leadership in state professional organizations associated with Couple and Family Therapy. Record of leadership in accreditation processes.
