Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring 18 months of Med/Tele experience and NC or compact RN licensure.

Details

Hospital setting in Charlotte, NC with 207 licensed beds, Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center designations.

No trauma designation and not a teaching hospital.

Will be assigned to a home unit on first day of orientation, which may include ADTU, Ortho Surgical, Medical Telemetry, Surgical Telemetry, Cardiac Medical Telemetry, or Medical units.

Patient populations vary by unit and include CHF, COPD, stroke, cardiac arrhythmias, ESRD, GI issues, post-surgical care, and behavioral health/detox cases.

RN to patient ratio of 1:5-6, with critical surge up to 1:7-8.

12-hour night shift schedule (1900-0700) for 36 hours per week.

Every other weekend rotation required.

No on-call responsibilities.

Floating required within region and scope of practice to Cleveland, Kings Mountain, Lincoln, and Central Division facilities (CMC Main, Mercy, LCH).

EMR: Epic.

IV pumps: Alaris; Medication dispensing: Omnicell; Monitors: Phillips.

Requirements

Active RN license (NC or Compact) required.

Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required.

Minimum 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience required.

Additional Ortho experience and spinal precautions knowledge required for Ortho Surgical unit assignment.

General Med/Tele skillset required including stroke care, cardiac rhythm interpretation, trach care, PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, and drain/tube management.

Experience with medication drip management including cardiac drips, Heparin, blood products, and IVF.

Epic EMR experience required.

Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration.

Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN.

Additional Information

Support staff includes CNA, receptionist/HUC, charge nurse, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, resource nurse (as staffing allows), 24/7 respiratory therapy and hospitalist coverage, and intensivist coverage.

Orientation includes New Employee Orientation (NEO) plus 2 days of departmental orientation.

Holiday coverage required for 75% of holidays.

Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays; unmet contracted hours must be added to the end of the contract.

Schedule cycle runs every 6 weeks.

Navy scrub color required.

Free parking available.

Candidates must live at least 50 miles from the facility to qualify; local candidates are not accepted.

First-time travelers not preferred but will be considered.

Previous permanent employees must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year before applying.

Manager conducts final clinical interview.
