Accounting Technician
Onsite
Duration: 6 Months Contract (possibility of extension)
Location: Hampton, VA / Norfolk, VA
Pay rate: Hourly, depending on experience
Responsibilities:
- Performs a variety of accounting clerical duties involved in maintaining projects and grants records, reimbursements, reconciliations, verifying financial activity, and preparing periodic reports.
Essential Job Functions:

- Maintains and updates computerized project and grant records.
- Enters invoice information to create project invoice proposals for reimbursements.
- Reviews invoices and payment records for reimbursements; ensures project postings match invoices; prepares support for reimbursements.
- Reconciles expenses and project postings.
- Enters data into projects and grants systems.
- Verifies calculation of project expense information.
- Tracks reimbursements to ensure timely payment and recording.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Basic knowledge of accounting methods and processes as they relate to revenue accounting.
- Practical knowledge of computerized accounting systems.
- Ability to enter data into accounting records accurately.
- Ability to review and consolidate large volumes of data into a logical, consistent format.
Required Software Knowledge and Skills:
- Proficiency in using computer systems and software applications associated with assigned work is essential.
- Basic problem-solving skills related to software applications are expected.
- Software usage relevant to job duties will be evaluated.
Software Applications:
- D365, Outlook, Microsoft Office Suite
Qualifications:
- Education: High School diploma or GED certificate. Accounting or bookkeeping courses preferred.
- Experience: One year of experience in accounting clerical work, data entry, or related experience. One year of experience using commercial word processing and spreadsheet software packages.
