Role Description The Bilingual (Spanish/English) Early Childhood Mental Health Therapist is a full-time, on-site role based in New York, NY. This therapist provides developmentally appropriate mental health services to young children and their families, including intake assessments, diagnostic evaluations, and ongoing individual, family, and group therapy in both Spanish and English. Day-to-day responsibilities include collaborating with caregivers, early childhood staff, and community partners to create and implement treatment plans that support children's emotional, social, and behavioral development. The therapist documents all clinical services in accordance with agency and regulatory standards, participates in case conferences and multidisciplinary team meetings, and contributes to program planning and quality improvement. The role also involves providing psychoeducation, crisis intervention, and referrals to additional resources to ensure comprehensive support for children and their families. Qualifications Strong bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English, with the ability to conduct assessments, therapy, and documentation in both languages. Clinical skills in early childhood mental health, including child and family therapy, play-based interventions, and trauma-informed care. Knowledge of child development, behavioral health best practices, and culturally responsive approaches to working with diverse families. Ability to maintain thorough clinical documentation, adhere to confidentiality and compliance standards, and use electronic health record systems. Effective communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills for working with caregivers, multidisciplinary teams, and community partners. Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or a related mental health field; relevant New York State licensure or eligibility is preferred. Experience in early childhood, school-based, or community mental health settings, particularly within under-resourced or urban communities, is highly beneficial.
