MONITORING AND EVALUATION RESEARCH ASSISTANT

Part Time Role: 20/hours a week / non-exempt role

Location: Hybrid; in person activities in Washington, DC

Job Description:

Sasha Bruce Youthwork is looking for a Research Assistant to work with the Director of Monitoring and Evaluation in the Monitoring, Evaluation, Research and Learning (MERL) team.

Responsibilities:

• Assistwith data cleaning, data entry, and quality assurance within internal databases (e.g., Apricot,HMIS, Excel-based Trackers)and for outcomes surveys
• Ensure high-quality data in internal databases(e.g., Apricot,HMIS, Excel-based Trackers)across all programsbyconducting audits, trainings,and providing one-on-one support to programs
• Participate in site visits, program observations,andclient andstaff interviews as needed
• Support qualitative and quantitative data analysis for program performance, outcomes, and grant reporting
• Develop or update monitoring tools such aslogic models,surveys,tracking tools, andforms
• Assistwith data visualization tasks, including translating quantitative data into digestible easy to understand visuals
• Support the preparation of dashboards(Tableau and/orPowerBi), briefs, and visualizations for internal and external audiences
• Contribute to mid-year and end-of-summer evaluation summaries
• Performadditionaladministrative and research tasks to support the MERL team

Qualifications

• Detail-oriented, organized, open-minded, a good listener, an active communicator, and willing to learn new skills.
• Undergraduate degreein public health, public policy, social sciences, education, data analytics, or related fieldrequired
• Willing to learn to use data management platforms including HMIS and Apricotrequired
• Experience withMicrosoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Canvarequired
• Demonstrated strong analytical skills; course experience with qualitative and quantitativeresearch skillsrequired
• Familiarity withsurveytools (SurveyMonkey, Microsoft Forms),data visualization tools (Tableau andPowerBI),andstatistical tools (e.g., SPSS, R, Stata) a plus
• Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, withdemonstratedability to work effectively in culturally diverse settings.
• Ability to work independently, take initiative, and manage time effectively
• Interest in youth development, social services, and community-based evaluation
• Commitment to equity, confidentiality, and trauma-informed practice
• Passion for social justice and a commitment to creating safe and supportive communities for all youth, particularly BIPOC and LGBTQ youth.
