Job Purpose Under the direct supervision of a registered nurse, provide evidence-based nursing care, administer specific oral and topical medications, monitor for adverse reactions, and perform daily basic nursing care duties to assist licensed staff in delivering medical care within the medical clinic. Job Responsibilities Perform a wide range of clinical tasks related to patient care under supervision of a registered nurse, nurse practitioner, or physician. Conduct intake screenings and interviews for juveniles, collecting health information, vitals, and laboratory specimens. Administer and record medications to juveniles as directed by the Nursing Administrator, Nurse Manager, or designee. Observe, record, and report symptoms or conditions that could be related to medication interactions or adverse reactions. Administer nursing treatments including first aid care as prescribed by the physician. Support daily clinic operations, assisting with administrative and logistics functions. Maintain supply levels, order supplies, and ensure medical equipment is properly maintained. Attend required meetings and trainings, and perform other related duties as assigned. Primary work locations are DJJ medical clinics at all facilities in Richland, Union, and Dorchester Counties. Maintain personal protective equipment and adhere to infection prevention protocols. State Minimum Requirements A high school diploma or GED and current enrollment in an accredited nursing school program pursuing a Registered Nurse (RN) degree with a minimum GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale; or have graduated from nursing school and be pending NCLEX exam results. Additional Requirements Experience with electronic health records and knowledge of HIPAA preferred. Ability to interact with patients and collect and assemble information clearly. Understand, execute, and convey oral and written instructions; carry out medical provider medication orders. Exercise judgement and discretion in applying DJJ policies and procedures. Establish and maintain good working relationships with staff, personnel in other departments, and the general public. Preferred Agency Requirements Minimum age 18 years.
