Systems Design Assistant

Job Overview Position: Project Engineering Support – Hardware & Software Engineer (Hourly) Responsibilities Support all Project Engineering tasks. Provide support to Systems Engineers and System Designers in performing Hardware and Software engineering activities. Create, monitor, and edit engineering spreadsheets relating to hardware and software deliverables. Review project documentation and support engineers in deciphering data. Provide customers with the highest level of service to solve engineering inefficiencies and resolve related items. Act as a trusted advisor to customers, providing solutions and outcomes at the time of service. Maintain engineering spreadsheets and prepare & maintain deliverables. Support the creation of hardware and software submittals. Communicate job progress and issues to management, contractors, and customers. Complete administrative tasks including timesheets, expense reports, and on‑site documentation. Document changes and provide information for as‑built documentation. Follow all safety standards and attend required safety training. Provide recommendations and solutions to ensure engineering runs efficiently. Document recommendations and solutions for support purposes. Qualifications Associate’s degree in electronics, mechanical systems, computer technology, air conditioning, or a similar field. Four‑year vocational program or three years of industry experience, or one year of servicing electronic and/or mechanical systems in the HVAC industry. Knowledge of HVAC controls systems, facilities management systems, site preparation, peripheral equipment installation, and servicing techniques. Effective interpersonal skills to represent Johnson Controls to customers and external contacts in an ethical and professional manner. Ability to explain technical information to both technical and non‑technical audiences. Leadership skills to support mechanics working on non‑complex, non‑critical Building Automation equipment on a job site. Proficiency with PC and ability to program HVAC related software. Compensation & Benefits Hourly range: $21 – $31. This range reflects the typical compensation for this role and is based on education, experience, skills, and market data. Exceptional candidates may receive an hourly rate above this range.
