Paralegal - Probate
$60k - $70kNelson Elder Care Law
Job Description
Job Description
Own the Client Experience. Help Families Through Difficult Seasons. Make a Difference Every Day.
At Nelson Elder Care Law, we help families navigate some of life's most challenging situations with compassion, expertise, and clear guidance. Whether a family is dealing with the loss of a loved one, caring for an aging parent, or navigating a guardianship matter, they're often coming to us during a stressful and emotional time.
That's why we're looking for more than a Paralegal.
We're looking for someone who takes ownership, genuinely cares about people, and wants to be the person families can count on throughout the entire probate process.
If you're the type of person who enjoys keeping things moving, solving problems, building relationships, and seeing a case through from beginning to end, we'd love to meet you.
About the Role
As a Probate Paralegal, you will own the client experience from engagement through completion. You will be the primary point of contact for clients, guiding them through the probate or guardianship process while ensuring deadlines are met, communication is proactive, and expectations are clear.
This is not a role where you simply draft documents and pass the file along.
You will manage your cases, drive them forward, communicate directly with clients, coordinate with attorneys, and help ensure families follow through on both the legal and financial commitments necessary to complete their matter.
Success in this role requires a balance of compassion, accountability, organization, and confidence.
Compensation:$60,000 - $70,000 Total Compensation
Responsibilities:What You'll Do
- Manage probate and guardianship matters from engagement through completion
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients throughout their case
- Draft petitions, pleadings, court filings, and supporting legal documents
- Monitor deadlines and proactively move cases forward
- Communicate with courts, clients, financial institutions, and third parties as needed
- Answer client questions that do not require attorney involvement
- Coordinate document collection and information gathering
- Maintain accurate case records and file management
- Work closely with attorneys to ensure matters are progressing appropriately
- Manage client collections and payment conversations professionally and confidently
- Hold clients accountable to the agreed-upon next steps so cases do not stall
- Deliver an exceptional client experience from start to finish
What Success Looks Like
The right person for this role:
- Takes ownership instead of waiting to be told what to do next
- Is comfortable having difficult conversations when necessary
- Can balance empathy with accountability
- Communicates proactively and professionally
- Enjoys building relationships with clients
- Thrives in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities
- Pays attention to details without losing sight of the overall client experience
- Finds satisfaction in seeing a matter through to completion
- Georgia Probate knowledge required
- Experience with discovery, litigation, mediation, and trial prep- required
- Flexibility and the ability to multitask
- Strong drafting and writing skills, including great attention to detail and proofreading
- Excellent communication skills, including using appropriate tone and professionalism when engaging with clients
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- A self-starter with a positive attitude, resilient emotional intelligence, strong work ethic, and good judgment
- Attention to detail
