Mental Health Technician Full Time - Nights

Mental Health Technician – FT Nights – 36 hrs/week – 7:00 PM‑7:30 AM – every other weekend HAVENWYCK HOSPITAL (a UHS facility) Havenwyck Hospital is a Joint Commission‑accredited and licensed psychiatric hospital overlooking Lake Galloway in Auburn Hills, Michigan. We specialize in providing comprehensive, compassionate behavioral health services to children, adolescents and adults. Position Summary The Mental Health Technician performs routine patient care duties under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. This includes assistance with patient admissions, discharges and transfers; monitoring patients for verbal and non‑verbal cues of potential aggressive behaviors and de‑escalating them. The technician reports alterations in sensory perceptual images, recognises differences between illustrations, delusions and hallucinations, monitors safety issues, takes action to prevent patient harm, and communicates these issues to the Registered Nurse. Assist patients with activities of daily living and encourage independent behavior within a therapeutic environment. Duties and Responsibilities Follow instructions given by nursing leadership and as outlined in hospital policies and procedures. Report patient medical problems to the Registered Nurse. Report alterations in sensory perceptual images, recognise the differences between illustrations, delusions and hallucinations, monitor safety issues, and take action to prevent patient harm. Communicate these issues to the Registered Nurse. Provide care to patients in a manner that considers safety, patients’ rights, comfort and a therapeutic environment. Assist with admissions, discharges, and transfers of patients in a timely manner and complete appropriate documentation. Benefit Highlights Challenging and rewarding work environment. Prefer a minimum of two years of college in psychology, social work, mental health, or related health fields. Experience dealing with emotionally disturbed patients preferred.
