Description

American Traveler is hiring a Neuro ICU RN for a night shift contract requiring 2+ years of Neuro ICU or comprehensive stroke center experience and Epic proficiency.

Details

• Fast-paced Neuro ICU treating neurological diseases and disorders including seizures and strokes at a comprehensive stroke center
• Also treats overflow ICU patients from Medical Surgical ICU and Heart and Vascular ICU
• Patient ratio of 1:3
• Night shift, 4x12 hours, 19:00-7:30
• Floating required, with travelers prioritized for float assignments at the facility's discretion
• Floating may include multiple campus locations within a 15-mile radius of main campus
• Must be available to work every other weekend and every other holiday
• Epic EMR experience required

Requirements

• Active RN license (Ohio or Compact) required
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS with ability to read and interpret strips
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Minimum 2 years of Neuro ICU experience and/or comprehensive stroke center experience in a large hospital setting required
• Epic charting system experience required
• Skills in IV therapy, arterial line management, central line care, and PICC line management required
• Experience with ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP, and ABG interpretation required
• Experience with CVA/acute stroke management, EVD, ICP monitoring, and post-neurosurgery management required
• Experience with continuous IV sedation and titrating cardiac/vasoactive drips required
• Experience managing patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure required
• Trauma Level I and teaching hospital experience preferred
• Previous charge experience preferred

Additional Information

• Provide critical care nursing to patients with complex neurological conditions in a comprehensive stroke center
• Support nursing care teams when floated to other units based on skill set and census needs
• Facility reserves the right to cancel up to 2 shifts per 13-week contract due to low census
• Maximum of 14 days RTO allowed per contract, must be requested at time of submittal with no changes after offer
• Local candidates within 50 miles are not accepted
• Previous perm/PRN employees or prior agency staff not extended due to tenure must wait 6 months before applying and require facility rehire approval
• First-time travelers are not considered for this position
