Staff Accountant I

The Staff Accountant will be primarily responsible for monthly journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, bank reconciliations, account analysis, preparation of sales and use taxes, business personal tax reporting, and business license renewals. This position reports to the Assistant Controller. Responsibilities WHAT YOU'LL DO AS A CANYON RANCH COLLEAGUE Journal Entries and Month-End Processing: Prepare and post month-end journal entries, including the extraction, review, and upload of financial data from POS, Book4Time, and other operational systems into NetSuite. Prepare traditional month-end journal entries and supporting schedules, ensuring activity is complete, accurate, and recorded in the appropriate accounting period. Track and record membership dues and related activity in accordance with established accounting procedures. Account Reconciliations: Assist with the preparation and review of balance sheet and general ledger account reconciliations. Research discrepancies and reconciling items and assist with ensuring outstanding items are resolved timely. Accounting Operations: Support day-to-day accounting activities and provide accounting support to the broader Accounting team as needed, such as Expensify review and Inventory Adjustments. Assist with maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring transactions are appropriately documented, coded, and recorded within the fixed asset ledger. Financial Analysis and Accounting Support: Assist with ad hoc financial and accounting analysis as requested, including researching account activity, preparing supporting schedules, and providing information to support business and accounting needs. Account Receivables: Assist with preparation of invoices and timely processing of payments of amounts due on members account. LOCATION This is a hybrid role working onsite in downtown Fort Worth. Qualifications WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL Two (2) years previous experience in same or related field. Education: Minimum Associate degree or two-year equivalent specialized training or experience required. Bachelor's degree in Accounting preferred Knowledgeable in NetSuite or other accounting systems. Possesses strong general ledger and account reconciliation skills. Skilled in Microsoft office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Demonstrated ability to work with spreadsheet based mathematical and statistical concepts.
