Staff Accountant

SUMMARY We are seeking a Staff Accountant with a strong background in construction or AEC accounting to join our finance team. This role will report directly to the Sr. Controller and play a vital role in managing financial operations, ensuring accuracy in reporting, and supporting business decisions. EDUCATION Accounts Receivable: Assist in the A/R billing process, ensuring accurate invoices. Bank Reconciliations: Verify all transactions on bank statements. Job Costing & Project Accounting: Track and analyze costs for ongoing projects, ensuring alignment with budgets and contracts. General Ledger Management: Maintain accurate records, post journal entries, and ensure compliance with GAAP. Audit & Compliance: Support internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and financial reporting standards. Collaboration: Work closely with project managers and other departments to streamline financial processes and improve reporting accuracy. Financial Statements: Analyze variances in the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports. Other accounting tasks as needed, including Budgeting, Forecasting, etc. EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS, AND EXPERIENCE Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field. Experience: Minimum 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably in the AEC, construction, or engineering industry. Software Proficiency: Experience with Deltek products, specifically VantagePoint, is a plus but not required; will train the right individual. Advanced Excel skills are a plus. Knowledge: Strong understanding of job costing, financial reporting, and accounting principles. Familiarity with the Federal Acquisition Regulation is a plus. Skills: Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and problem-solving skills. Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Strong communication skills to collaborate across departments. COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS Compensation is based on experience.
