Facilities & Capital Director

Clay County is looking for a Facilities & Capital Director to lead, plan, and manage a comprehensive program of maintenance and custodial services. In this critical role, you will oversee the facilities, grounds, equipment, and furnishings of the County, ensuring our physical environment is safe, efficient, and welcoming for both employees and constituents.

Key responsibilities include:

• Strategic leadership to develop and implement the County's overall organizational strategy.
• Team management to recruit, train, and coach a high-performing facilities team.
• Operational excellence to establish and enforce policies and procedures related to performance standards and safety.
• Financial stewardship to develop and administer annual budgets, identify cost-reduction strategies, and manage grants.
• Facility planning to maintain a multi-year comprehensive maintenance plan for HVAC, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and structural systems.
• Community engagement to represent the County in civic and professional associations.

What you bring includes:

• At least five (5) years of professional-level government administration experience, including budgeting, fiscal management, and program management.
• Thorough understanding of modern management principles and a deep knowledge of facilities systems.
• A proven track record of decisive decision-making, effective delegation, and the ability to build resilient, agile processes.
• A Bachelor's degree is preferred; however, significant experience in the administration of facilities and major systems may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Exceptional ability to communicate complex issues to the County Commission, employees, and the public.

This role involves both office-based strategic planning and on-site inspections. Candidates must be able to travel throughout the County, occasionally lift up to 50 lbs., and navigate various facility environments (including using ladders or stairs). A valid motor vehicle operator's license is required.
