Customs Entry Writer

salary: $30 - $36 per hour

Responsibilities

• Import/Export Documentation & Customs Clearance: Review trade paperwork (invoices, packing lists, shipping docs) for accuracy; prepare and submit customs entries in a timely manner.

• Classification & Valuation: Assign accurate Harmonized System (HS) codes to goods and calculate applicable duties, tariffs, and taxes based on valuation and classification standards.

• Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all incoming and outgoing shipments comply with international trade laws, customs regulations, and trade restrictions.

• Coordination & Communication: Act as a liaison with internal departments, external clients, and regulatory/government agencies via phone, email, and in person to resolve customs delays and prevent logistical issues.

• Data & Records Management: Maintain accurate electronic and physical records of customs entries, audit documentation, and verify trade data using specialized computer systems.

• Problem Solving & Continuous Learning: Analyze shipping data to solve operational compliance issues and stay updated on changing trade laws and regulations.

• Communication: Clear verbal and written skills for interfacing with cross-functional teams, clients, and external entities.

• Technical Proficiency: Experience using computer databases, software systems, and data-entry tools to process information efficiently.
