Job Description
Medical Assistant - Outpatient Clinic

Schedule

Weekend coverage is not required. Floating to other specialties may be necessary.

Assignment Details

Floating to Rheumatology, Neurology, and Endocrinology may be required.

Requirements

• Minimum of 1 year experience in an outpatient clinic setting.
• Medical Assistant diploma from a DAPIP-accredited program.
• High School diploma or GED.
• BLS certification (AHA or ARC only).
• Proficiency in venipuncture/blood draws.
• Experience with obtaining vital signs, EKG (12-lead), and pulse oximetry.
• Ability to room patients, administer medications, and provide immunizations.
• Point-of-care testing experience (glucometer, urine dip/UA, pregnancy testing).
• Skills in telephone triage, authorization/insurance verification, pharmacy refill calls, and follow-up calls.
• Knowledge of reviewing lab tests and recording medication/history/allergies.
• Epic experience is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist healthcare providers in delivering patient care.
• Perform clinical tasks as required within scope of practice.
• Provide excellent patient service and communication.
• Maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
• Support the healthcare team in achieving clinic goals.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives.

Compliance / Notes

Compliance with RTO rules is required; maximum RTO is 7 days and no RTO is allowed within the first 2 weeks of assignment.
