Positions allocable to this class work under the technical guidance of a physician and work as a member of a medical team assisting physicians, nurses, and physician assistants by providing basic administrative, clerical, and technical supportive services to patient care in an outpatient clinic and field-based settings.

Essential Job Functions include preparing patients for examination procedures, preparing treatment rooms, assisting physicians with procedures, performing venipuncture or skin puncture to draw blood, performing non-invasive screening tests, collecting specimens, performing simple laboratory tests, applying and removing bandages and dressings, greeting patients, coordinating and maintaining inventory control for medical and laboratory supplies, and assisting with care coordination tasks and activities.

To be considered for this opportunity, you will need to have a certificate of completion of a Medical Assistant training program issued by an institution or instructor authorized to provide training pursuant to the standards established by the Medical Board of California, a current Medical Assistant certificate in administrative and clinical assignments, and a current certification to perform CPR, issued by a provider authorized by the American Red Cross or American Heart Association. Additional credit will be given for certifications related to the desirable qualification, such as a current Certified Phlebotomy Technician -1 (CPT-1) certification or a current electrocardiogram certification to perform EKG.
