Virgil E. Smith Insurance Services is an independent, growth-stage Houston agency hiring a Commercial Insurance Producer to hunt and close new business with the agency infrastructure behind you to make big production numbers realistic, not aspirational.

• You sell. We service. Once you close an account, our service team takes it off your plate entirely no renewal remarketing, no certificate requests, no service calls eating your selling hours. 100% of your time goes into the activity that pays you.
• Independent agency, multiple carrier appointments. You place the risk with the right fit instead of forcing it into one carrier's appetite better hit ratios, fewer lost deals.
• Underwriting relationships, not just quoting volume. We put submissions in front of carriers the right way, so your work converts.
• Hybrid schedule based in the Clear Lake/Houston area, with flexibility to work where you're most productive.

Earnings: $80,000$150,000 first year. Guaranteed base salary plus uncapped new-business commission. Your base covers your life; your commission is where the real money is. Producers hitting standard activity benchmarks land in the $80K$110K range in year one; proven closers with an established pipeline reach $150K+.

• Build and maintain a strong pipeline of commercial insurance prospects across Texas
• Consult with business owners and key decision-makers to design coverage across commercial lines: property, general liability, workers' compensation, cyber, commercial auto, EPLI, and more
• Prepare and present quote proposals to prospective clients and own the close
• Partner with underwriting teams to structure competitive, well-positioned submissions
• Leverage centers of influence, referral networks, and your own prospecting strategies to generate consistent new business
• Track pipeline activity and results we run on numbers, and so should you

• Active Texas Property & Casualty license (General Lines)
• 2+ years producing commercial insurance business with a verifiable track record
• An established prospecting strategy COIs, referral partners, or niche expertise you can activate from day one
• Self-directed, competitive, and comfortable being measured on results
• Authorized to work in the United States
