GS 7–9: $42,679.00–$67,865.00

Salary shown is the base salary for the grade levels. Salary is also commensurate with professional experience. Major Duties Provide technical support to all levels of personnel concerning the implementation and daily operations of computer systems and individual microcomputer functions in the office. Serve as point of contact for user complaints concerning computer malfunctions; analyze and troubleshoot error conditions of varying complexity. Review operational needs to detect, diagnose, and resolve significant problems or error conditions relating to computer or related IT products and services. Maintain and update inventory of computer equipment and identify their configuration and location within the office. Support the planning and modification or development of complex systems involving non‑standard Bureau operating systems or those involving complex integrated systems. Specialized Experience (GS‑7) Provided routine support regarding administrative and/or technical matters related to IT programs and/or services. Performed routine system diagnostics and analyzed any potential problems or issues. Provided some limited training to users regarding basic utilization of computer equipment. Specialized Experience (GS‑9) Analyzed end‑user requests and determined correct resolution to the problem. Troubleshot complex computer malfunctions. Prepared for and assisted in initial “start‑up” of new equipment and software. Provided routine support regarding administrative and/or technical matters related to IT programs and/or services. Performed routine system diagnostics and analyzed any potential problems or issues. Provided some limited training to users regarding basic utilization of computer equipment. Key Requirements Must be a U.S. citizen. Must have (or be able to obtain) a valid driver’s license. Must be able to obtain a Top Secret Clearance. Must be willing to travel if required. Must meet the FBI’s Employment Eligibility requirements. Education and Experiential Requirements Education Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management from a U.S.-accredited college or university. Education may be substituted for specialized experience (SE) as follows: GS‑7: Applicant must have a bachelor’s degree with superior academic achievement or one full year of graduate‑level education. Superior academic achievement is the completion of all the requirements of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, which is based on (1) class standing, (2) grade‑point average of 3.0 or higher as recorded on an official transcript or as based on courses completed during the final two years of the curriculum, or (3) honor society membership. GS‑9: Applicant must have a master’s or equivalent graduate degree or two full years of progressively higher‑level graduate education leading to such a degree (or LLB or JD, if related).
