Are you an accounting professional with a strong foundation in fund accounting, investments, or alternative assets? We are partnering with a growing investment organization seeking a Staff Accountant to support accounting operations across multiple investment vehicles and special purpose entities (SPVs). This role offers the opportunity to work closely with investment professionals while managing the financial reporting, reconciliation, and investor accounting activities that support a dynamic portfolio. This position plays a critical role in the day-to-day accounting and financial operations of investment funds and syndicate structures. The ideal candidate enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, has excellent attention to detail, and possesses a solid understanding of accounting fundamentals along with exposure to investment transaction flows.

Responsibilities

\n

\n
• Prepare and record journal entries related to investment activity, fund transactions, and operating expenses
\n
• Track and reconcile investor capital contributions, capital calls, and related cash activity
\n
• Monitor and reconcile investor distributions, proceeds from exits, and allocation calculations
\n
• Perform monthly bank reconciliations, cash reconciliations, and balance sheet account reconciliations across multiple entities
\n
• Maintain accurate general ledger records and supporting documentation
\n
• Assist with investor capital account maintenance and investor reporting
\n
• Support month-end and quarter-end close processes, including accruals and adjusting entries
\n
• Reconcile information between fund administrators, custodians, and internal accounting records
\n
• Assist in the preparation of financial reports for management, investors, auditors, and other stakeholders
\n
• Maintain audit-ready documentation and support compliance requirements
\n
• Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies and cash movement variances
\n
• Partner with investment and deal teams to ensure accurate transaction recording from investment through exit
\n

Qualifications

\n

\n
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
\n
• Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and financial reporting
\n
• Experience in fund accounting, private equity, venture capital, investment management, family office, hedge fund, or alternative investment environments preferred
\n
• Familiarity with capital calls, distributions, investor allocations, and waterfall structures is a plus
\n
• Experience with accounting systems such as NetSuite, QuickBooks, or other fund accounting platforms
\n
• Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical abilities
\n
• Ability to manage multiple entities and priorities simultaneously
\n
• Experience collaborating with fund administrators, auditors, and cross-functional teams
\n
• CPA designation or progress toward CPA is preferred but not required
\n
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
\n
• Strong organizational and time-management skills
\n
• Ability to handle sensitive financial and investor information with discretion
\n
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
\n
• Self-starter who thrives in a remote and deadline-driven environment
