TravelNurseSource is working with Cynet Health to find a qualified Med/Surg / Tele RN in Houston, Texas, 77030!

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Telemetry Duration: 6 weeks Shift: 12H Days Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years of MedSurg/Telemetry experience License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Strong IV start skills Ability to hit the ground running Strong MedSurg background Positive attitude Experience with cardiac drips Description: This is a high demand and high acuity unit. Patients may include those with pulmonary issues such as cystic fibrosis and pneumonia. There may be overflow patients from liver care and sickle cell patients requiring frequent pain management. Gerontology patients with active illness and high fall risk are also common. The nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 1:5 but can flex to 1:6 depending on staffing needs. Registered nurses are required to read and interpret telemetry strips. A telemonitoring exam will be administered prior to orientation. Monitor techs are available on a different unit. Charge nurses are present on all shifts and carry a smaller patient assignment. The goal is to have nurse aides available each shift, but staffing may vary. Common equipment in use includes nasal cannula, CPAP, BiPAP, and occasionally tracheostomy care. Registered nurses are expected to float to other MedSurg acuity areas as needed. This role requires flexibility in scheduling and a commitment to working every other weekend and holiday as per policy. Successful candidates will have experience in busy healthcare environments, preferably with previous travel assignments. Charting is done using the EPIC system.
