Electrical Controls Engineer

Overview

Design, program, and support automated control systems for custom industrial equipment. This role focuses on PLC/HMI programming, electrical design, controls integration, troubleshooting, and commissioning.

Responsibilities

• Program and troubleshoot Allen Bradley PLCs (RSLogix 500/5000).

• Develop HMI applications using FactoryTalk View.

• Program and support Beckhoff PLCs using TwinCAT.

• Create electrical schematics and panel layouts using AutoCAD Electrical.

• Integrate I/O, sensors, drives, and industrial communication networks.

• Support equipment commissioning, startup, and customer installations.

• Troubleshoot electrical, controls, and automation issues.

• Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams on custom automation projects.

Required Qualifications

• BS degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or related field.

• 2+ years of Allen Bradley PLC and FactoryTalk experience.

• 2+ years of Beckhoff and TwinCAT experience.

• AutoCAD Electrical experience.

• PLC programming and industrial automation experience.

• Strong troubleshooting and controls integration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Wonderware experience.

• PID loop tuning experience.

• UL, CSA, or CE experience.

• Experience with Ethernet, Modbus, and DeviceNet.

• Automated equipment industry experience.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Naperville, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $57.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
