Industrial Maintenance Technician - 1st shift Maintenance, $30-$35

Job Description
This role focuses on mechanical and electrical maintenance and troubleshooting of production equipment in a metal fabrication and finishing facility. The Industrial Maintenance Technician ensures that resistance welders, conveyor systems, paint and powder coat lines, slitters, shears, and related machinery operate safely, efficiently, and with minimal downtime.
Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical and electrical troubleshooting and repair on a wide range of industrial equipment, including resistance welders, conveyor lines, paint lines, powder coat lines, slitters, and shears.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical components such as gears, bearings, sprockets, motors, and other rotating equipment to maintain optimal machine performance.
• Troubleshoot electrical systems up to 480V three-phase, including identifying faults, replacing components, and restoring equipment to safe operating condition.
• Install and run electrical conduit as needed for equipment modifications, upgrades, and new installations.
• Replace, set up, and program variable frequency drives (VFDs) to control motor speed and improve process reliability.
• Maintain and repair paint and powder coat lines, with a strong focus on pneumatic and hydraulic systems that support these processes.
• Service and maintain pumps, valves, solenoids, and related fluid control components used throughout the facility.
• Perform ongoing mechanical maintenance and electrical maintenance tasks to prevent breakdowns and extend equipment life.
• Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems, including cylinders, hoses, fittings, and control valves.
• Support PLC-related troubleshooting, particularly with Allen-Bradley systems, to assist in diagnosing control issues on automated equipment.
• Follow safety procedures and best practices to protect yourself, coworkers, and equipment while working with high-voltage electrical systems and heavy machinery.
• Document maintenance activities, repairs, and parts usage to support accurate recordkeeping and future troubleshooting.
• Collaborate with production and operations teams to minimize downtime while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.
• Prioritize work based on production deadlines while ensuring that quality and safety are never compromised.
• Use personal tools and appropriate protective equipment to complete daily maintenance tasks efficiently.

Essential Skills

• At least 5 years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
• Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills with gears, bearings, sprockets, motors, and other mechanical components.
• Hands-on experience working with electrical systems up to 480V three-phase in an industrial setting.
• Ability to replace and program variable frequency drives (VFDs) and work with three-phase motors.
• Proficiency in hydraulic and pneumatic troubleshooting, including pumps, valves, solenoids, and related components.
• Demonstrated experience in both mechanical maintenance and electrical maintenance on production equipment.
• Capability to run conduit and perform basic industrial electrical installations and modifications.
• Ownership and use of personal tools required to perform daily maintenance tasks.
• Ability to work safely in a deadline-driven environment without compromising quality or safety standards.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with PLC troubleshooting, preferably with Allen-Bradley systems.
• Experience in maintaining resistance welders, conveyor lines, paint lines, powder coat lines, slitters, and shears.
• Familiarity with metal fabrication processes and automated finishing equipment.
• Comfort working in a facility that supports construction projects, oil industry applications, and other industrial clients.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with production teams.

Work Environment
The role is based in a metal grating fabrication and finishing facility that has been operating for approximately 20 years. The environment combines traditional fabrication work with automated capabilities, including powder coat and paint lines. The culture is laid back but strongly focused on meeting deadlines while maintaining strict quality and safety standards, especially given the impact of parts used at construction and industrial work sites. The facility is clean for a metal operation, can get hot in the summer, and is heated in the winter. The typical schedule is first shift, generally 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., with extended hours such as 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. when overtime is required; Fridays are consistently eight-hour days. Dress code includes steel-toe footwear, jeans, a work shirt, and bringing your own tools to perform maintenance tasks.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $62400.00 - $70720.00/yr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
