Role Description

The Manager of Quality Assurance is responsible for managing and administering day-to-day quality assurance, quality control, and regulatory compliance supporting Comlux America's aircraft completion, maintenance, modification, fabrication, and repair operations. Working under the direction of the Director of Quality & Safety Assurance, this position implements and monitors quality programs in accordance with 14 CFR Part 145, AS9100, applicable FAA and EASA requirements, company procedures, and customer requirements.

The Manager of Quality Assurance serves as a key operational resource for Quality, Production, Engineering, Maintenance, and other functional teams by identifying compliance risks, supporting inspections and audits, managing corrective actions, and promoting consistent adherence to established quality standards. The position provides day-to-day leadership to quality activities while escalating significant regulatory, quality, and operational concerns to the Director of Quality & Safety Assurance.

Essential Job Functions

Manage and coordinate day-to-day Quality Assurance and Quality Control activities across aircraft completion, maintenance, modification, fabrication, and repair operations.

Implement and administer quality policies, procedures, and programs.

Monitor compliance with 14 CFR Part 145, AS9100, applicable FAA and EASA requirements, company procedures, and customer quality requirements.

Support the maintenance and effectiveness of the AS9100 Quality Management System, including internal audits, corrective actions, process monitoring, and continuous improvement activities.

Coordinate and monitor preliminary, hidden damage, in-process, and final inspections to ensure inspections are properly performed, documented, and completed in accordance with approved procedures.

Provide day-to-day leadership and direction to Quality personnel, including workload planning, performance expectations, training, development, and accountability.

Monitor quality performance metrics and identify trends, recurring issues, and opportunities for improvement.

Conduct and support internal audits, compliance reviews, process audits, and operational inspections to identify areas of risk or nonconformance.

Assist with external audits, customer audits, FAA surveillance, and other regulatory or certification activities by coordinating personnel, documentation, records, and corrective actions.

Maintain accurate and current quality records and ensure required documentation is completed in accordance with company procedures and regulatory requirements.

Support the maintenance and revision of controlled quality and repair station documentation, including the Repair Station Manual (RSM), Quality Control Manual (QCM), procedures, forms, and related documentation.

Assist in ensuring technical data used for aircraft maintenance, repair, and modification activities is current, properly controlled, and accessible to applicable personnel.

Review nonconformances, inspection findings, audit findings, incidents, and other quality or events and coordinate appropriate corrective and preventive actions.

Track corrective actions to completion and verify that actions are appropriately documented and effective.

Support investigations of accidents, incidents, injuries, quality escapes, and other operational events and assist in identifying root causes and appropriate corrective actions.

Identify operational hazards and quality risks and work with functional leaders to implement appropriate mitigation strategies.

Partner with Engineering, Production, Maintenance, Operations, and other functional teams to resolve quality and compliance issues and prevent recurrence.

Provide guidance to employees and leaders regarding quality standards, regulatory requirements, inspection requirements, and company policies.

Support quality training initiatives and assist in identifying training needs based on audit findings, incidents, process changes, and regulatory requirements.

Maintain awareness of applicable aviation regulations, airworthiness requirements, technical data, and industry standards relevant to Comlux operations.

Assist with maintaining the technical publications library and ensuring applicable technical information is available to personnel performing maintenance and modification activities.

Support the development and implementation of continuous improvement initiatives designed to improve quality, compliance, and operational efficiency.

Prepare presentations, metrics, and other management information for review by the Director of Quality & Safety and senior leadership.

Promote a culture of accountability, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement throughout the organization.

Escalate significant regulatory, quality, customer, or operational concerns in a timely manner.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications, Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in Aviation Maintenance, Quality Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field preferred; equivalent education and relevant experience may be considered.

Minimum of 57 years of experience in aviation maintenance, aircraft completions, MRO, manufacturing, quality assurance, quality control, or a related regulated environment.

Minimum of 23 years of experience in a quality, inspection, or operational leadership role.

Working knowledge of 14 CFR Part 145 repair station operations and regulatory requirements.

Working knowledge of AS9100 Quality Management Systems and quality assurance principles.

Working knowledge of FAA and EASA requirements applicable to aircraft maintenance, modification, and completion operations.

Experience supporting internal and external audits, corrective actions, compliance reviews, or quality improvement initiatives.

Experience working with quality records, inspection documentation, controlled procedures, and regulatory documentation.

FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) License preferred.

Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.

Required Skills and Abilities

Working knowledge of AS9100 requirements and quality management principles.

Ability to lead teams, establish priorities, assign work, and hold personnel accountable for quality performance.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Experience with aviation maintenance management, quality management, ERP, or related systems such as Corridor, CMP, CAMP, or similar platforms.

Demonstrated commitment to regulatory compliance, quality workmanship, and continuous improvement.

Work Environment

Work is primarily in an office environment but will regularly work in aircraft hangars, workshops, production areas, and supplier facilities.

The position requires interaction with employees, management, customers, suppliers, auditors, and regulatory representatives. Travel to supplier and customer locations may be required.

Work is sometimes performed in an aircraft maintenance and completion environment, including aircraft hangars, shops, and production areas.

May require standing, walking, bending, reaching, climbing, and working in confined or elevated areas for extended periods.

Must be able to safely use required inspection tools, equipment, and personal protective equipment.

Must be able to work in varying environmental conditions associated with aircraft maintenance operations.
