Lead Site Reliability Engineer

Salary: $198,050 - 267,950 per year Requirements:

• We require an active U.S. Secret security clearance, or one that has been active within the past 24 months.
• We need candidates who can obtain access to Special Access Programs.
• A bachelors degree is required.
• We look for at least 14 years of experience in DevOps, site reliability engineering, software engineering, or cloud engineering.
• We require hands-on experience with GitLab, Azure DevOps, and CI/CD pipelines.
• We need prior technical leadership experience.
• We require experience designing and implementing scalable computing infrastructure for data-driven solutions, including cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• We look for at least 5 years of experience performing root cause analysis for design failures.
• We prefer candidates with a bachelors degree in engineering, engineering technology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science, along with extensive related experience.
• We value experience presenting technical strategy, risks, tradeoffs, and recommendations to senior technical and program leaders.
• We prefer deep experience administering or architecting GitLab, GitLab CI/CD, GitLab runners, or similar enterprise source control and CI/CD platforms.
• We prefer deep experience with Jira, Confluence, or other Atlassian tools in an enterprise setting.
• We prefer deep experience with PostgreSQL architecture and operations, including backup and recovery, replication, performance tuning, storage planning, maintenance, and high-availability designs.
• We value experience with AWS, Microsoft Azure, Infrastructure as Code, Ansible, configuration management, containers, Docker, Kubernetes, virtualization, artifact management, secrets management, and secure software delivery practices.
• We prefer experience administering or architecting Artifactory, SonarQube, Jenkins, or similar software delivery tools.
• We prefer experience designing observability platforms, alerting approaches, SLO frameworks, service health dashboards, and operational reporting.
• We value experience supporting Air Dominance, classified, air-gapped, or highly regulated engineering environments.
• We prefer experience developing disaster recovery strategies, continuity of operations plans, recovery time objectives, recovery point objectives, and restore validation programs.
• We value experience guiding cybersecurity hardening, vulnerability remediation, audit readiness, privileged access controls, and compliance-driven operations.
• We require the ability to obtain Security+ certification.
• We need demonstrated ability to lead through influence across engineering teams, customers, suppliers, cybersecurity, infrastructure, and program stakeholders.
• We require strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to create architecture documentation, executive briefings, technical roadmaps, and decision records.

• We define and lead the site reliability engineering strategy for GitLab, CI/CD runners, Jira, Confluence, PostgreSQL, Artifactory, SonarQube, and related developer tooling infrastructure.
• We establish reliability architecture, operating standards, SLIs, SLOs, SLAs, KPIs, error budgets, observability patterns, capacity models, backup strategies, and disaster recovery methods.
• We act as the senior technical authority for reliability, performance, scalability, integration, database, automation, and security decisions.
• We lead architecture and design reviews for developer tooling platforms, runner topology, PostgreSQL operations, cloud and on-premises infrastructure, monitoring, access control, and integrations.
• We drive automation, infrastructure as code, Ansible, configuration management, and repeatable operating practices that reduce manual effort and improve reliability.
• We guide major upgrades, migrations, lifecycle planning, patching approaches, recovery planning, and technical roadmaps for supported platforms.
• We lead complex incidents and investigations, including root cause analysis, corrective actions, and broader reliability improvements.
• We mentor and technically support SREs in operational excellence, troubleshooting, automation, secure administration, and architecture.
• We partner with program leadership, cybersecurity, infrastructure, software engineering, database, networking, suppliers, customers, and other stakeholders.
• We identify platform risks, technical debt, capacity limits, single points of failure, compliance issues, and operational gaps, then drive remediation plans.
• We define, collect, analyze, and refine delivery and reliability metrics for execution, leadership visibility, and continuous improvement.
• We lead standards for provisioning, scaling, configuration management, monitoring, troubleshooting, and tool integration.
• We create and maintain architecture documentation, design patterns, standards, operational readiness criteria, and executive technical briefings.
• We influence support models, maintenance strategies, escalation paths, and investment priorities based on mission impact and operational risk.
• We help operationalize higher-quality end-to-end system software releases at a faster pace.
• We participate in after-hours support and escalation for urgent or mission-impacting issues when needed.
