About the Role

The Company is seeking a National Vice President of Agency Underwriting for the Western US region. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the SVP of Agency Underwriting, with a primary focus on escalation reviews and the management of the Agency Underwriting Scenario Team. This role involves providing solutions and assistance for loan-level escalations, complex scenarios, and ensuring effective communication with the underwriting department. The NVP will also work closely with various teams, including the Credit Risk Team, Training, Operations, Processing, Closing, Post-Closing, and Quality Control, on projects and communication. Applicants for the NVP position should have a Bachelor’s degree in business or finance, with an advanced degree preferred, and at least 10 years of experience in mortgage underwriting, including a minimum of 2 years in a management role. Extensive knowledge of risk evaluation, regulatory compliance, and FHA, VA, and conventional loan programs is essential. Experience with Encompass LOS is a plus. The role requires a proven ability to lead teams, provide constructive feedback, and a high level of self-motivation. Responsibilities also include managing the Agency Underwriting Scenario Team, ensuring they meet SLAs, and conducting regular spot checks and team meetings. The NVP will be expected to communicate effectively with the Branch and Operations, conduct existing branch calls, and stay updated on credit policy changes.
