Senior Manager, BESS Deployment Programs

• Leads end-to-end execution of DOE California Water Utilities and EPC energy/storage projects, managing cross-functional teams (engineering, contractors, permitting, utilities) from development through commissioning and handoff to service.
• Serves as primary client interface, overseeing project reporting, documentation (minutes, action logs), and commercial coordination with water utility stakeholders and DOE requirements.
• Develops and manages scopes of work, subcontractor agreements, change orders, and project financials, ensuring accuracy in budgeting, accounting, and cost performance.
• Oversees project scheduling and execution, maintaining master and short-term schedules, tracking delays, and ensuring delivery aligns with approved specifications, timelines, and budgets.
• Provides leadership and direction to project teams and field personnel, promoting safety, operational standards, and effective coordination across subcontractors, consultants, and stakeholders.
• Ensures compliance with all contractual, regulatory, and reporting requirements while driving project performance, customer satisfaction, and successful transition to operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or relevant equivalent experience.
• 7 years of experience as a project manager with P&L responsibility.
• 3+ years of experience as a project manager for complex EPC or Industrial projects (such as water, power, oil & gas, nuclear industries).
• Strong leadership, collaboration and influencing skills.
• Strong business acumen.
• Experience managing Federal Grants.
• Experience with state utility regulators.
• Demonstrated ability working in a matrixed and global organization.

Requirements

• BS/BA in a technical engineering discipline preferred.
• Experience and knowledge of BESS (Battery Energy Storage) project deployment (design, permitting, utility interconnection, etc.).
• Project or Change Management experience.
• Energy Project Development and Construction experience.
• Grant Funding Administration experience.
