In this influential role, you'll lead the delivery of complex mechanical and energy projects, mentor emerging engineers, and help clients modernize critical systems to meet today's demands while preparing for tomorrow's opportunities.What You'll Do:Lead the technical execution of complex engineering designs, energy studies, technical reports, and specifications for power generation, energy management, and facility optimization projectsConduct and oversee comprehensive energy audits, including facility assessments, site investigations, energy analyses, and development of energy efficiency measures (EEMs)Evaluate HVAC systems, central plants, hydronic systems, controls, and facility operations to identify opportunities to improve energy efficiency, performance, and resiliencyAnalyze system performance, review Building Management System (BMS) data and trends, and develop practical, cost-effective recommendations aligned with client objectivesDevelop energy savings calculations, opinions of probable cost, and technical evaluations to support client decision-making and project implementationDevelop and manage discipline work plans aligned with project milestones, ensuring projects are completed within budget and scheduling restraintsProvide expert consultation and resolve highly complex technical issues across energy, mechanical, and building systemsGuide and mentor junior engineering staff through technical direction, quality reviews, and professional development supportDeliver technical contributions to proposals and presentations for clients, public agencies, and regulatory stakeholdersWhat You Bring:Bachelor’s degree in Energy or Mechanical Engineering or related field required; Master’s degree preferredMinimum of 10 years of energy engineering required, including demonstrated experience leading projectsProfessional Engineer (PE) license requiredStrong understanding of building HVAC systems, including central plants, airside systems, hydronic systems, controls, and energy-consuming building systemsExperience performing and managing ASHRAE Level 1, 2, and 3 energy audits for K-12 schools, municipality buildings, commercial buildings, universities, hospitals, laboratories and other facility types, including energy use analysis, EEM development, savings calculations, and reportingProven ability to lead project execution, coordinate multidisciplinary teams, manage deliverables, and mentor junior staffExperience developing energy savings calculations, reviewing BMS data and system operations, and identifying opportunities to improve facility performance and efficiencyExpert knowledge of the respective engineering discipline with a proven ability to apply best practicesAdvanced proficiency with engineering, computational, and modeling software (Revit, AutoCAD, MicroStation, etc.) as well as Microsoft OfficeStrong understanding of QA/QC procedures, business practices, and engineering lawsExperience with electrification and decarbonization studies, including heat pumps, heat recovery, and central plant optimizationFamiliarity with utility incentive programs, ASHRAE standards, and energy modeling software (DesignBuilder, Trane Trace, eQuest)Commissioning, retro-commissioning, mechanical design, data logging, and field measurement experience preferredEffective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to adapt communication style to suit various audiences and communicate complex conceptsParticipation in professional engineering societies/organizations preferredAbility to travel occasionally throughout the Northeast region as project needs requireWhy You'll Love It Here:Lead high-impact energy projects that help utility, industrial, and institutional clients improve system performance, reliability, and operational efficiencyTackle technically complex challenges across energy generation, thermal systems, facility infrastructure, and decarbonization initiatives that make a meaningful difference for clients and communitiesExpand your influence beyond project delivery by serving as a trusted technical advisor, mentoring engineers, and helping shape innovative solutions for the evolving energy landscapeCurious about the impactful work our Generation & Energy Management Team is delivering?
