Position: Instrumentation Instructor - Adjunct
Department: Education, Training and Student Success
Reports To: Dean of Instruction

Position Summary
The Instrumentation Instructor - Adjunct plans, supports and delivers instruction for credit-based college courses in Instrumentation or related courses. The Instrumentation instructor also works with Workforce Director to support non-credit opportunities related to Instrumentation for the college. Instructors participate in assessment for programs, and general college education and participate in self-governance activities, curriculum development and student support. Instructors engage in the professional community through professional development and community engagement.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide instruction in face to face and online classes including preparing and delivering curriculum and supporting and maintaining a positive learning environment.
• Support student learning and development through use of student conferences and mentoring activities, student feedback, including supporting a community of learning on the campus.
• Actively participate in assigned college committees and departmental/ divisional activities.
• Advise students and assist in enrollment and required record keeping to support Enrollment management.
• Participate in assessment at the program, departmental and college level for ongoing improvement and in relation to special tasks or projects.
• Participate in the professional community including appropriate professional development to maintain current knowledge and skills in the field and in pedagogy.
• Other duties as assigned by CTE Dean, VCETS or Chancellor.

Education and Experience Requirements

• Associate’s Degree in Instrumentation or closely related field.
• Instrumentation or related field certifications.
• 4 years’ experience in industry, At least 2 years at Journeymen Level Experience.

Extensive industry experience (3 years) in Instrumentation, or completion of recognized apprenticeship program with required experience can substitute for associate degree. Exceptions subject to approval of the department chair and CTE Dean.

• Knowledge and commitment to institutional mission and values and the ability to work with stakeholders across the college to achieve and uphold those.

Preferred Qualifications

• 3 years’ experience, including 2 years at the journeyman level within the Instrumentation field. (above journeyman).
• NCCER Certification Level 1-4 or equivalent in Instrumentation or related field.
• Demonstrated success in training or education.

Physical Demands: When Applicable

• Ability to work in excess of 40 hours a week, which may include nights and weekends.
• Ability to view a computer screen for long periods of time.
• Ability to function in a high-pressure, stressful environment and meet stringent deadlines.
• Ability to operate a computer and standard office equipment.
• Ability to carry <25 lbs., stand, sit, reach, bend, climb, reach and push/pull.
