Position Summary:

Medical Director – Emergency Medicine

Our organization is actively seeking an Emergency Medicine Physician to take on the role of site Medical Director in Fredericksburg, Texas, nestled in the picturesque hill country and just an hour's drive from San Antonio.

We are looking for a full-time Medical Director of Emergency Medicine to oversee our well-established and respected emergency medicine program. This is a remarkable chance to provide leadership, operational guidance, and strategic vision within one of the leading healthcare systems in South Texas.

The Medical Director will collaborate closely with hospital administration, medical staff leaders, and system executives to ensure the provision of high-quality, patient-focused care while promoting clinical excellence, physician involvement, and operational efficiency across emergency medicine services.

Ideal Candidates:

• Must be board-certified or board-eligible in Emergency Medicine (MD or DO) with residency training in the field.
• Excellent communication abilities.
• Proficient in assessing and managing acute medical emergencies.
• Capable of thriving in a fast-paced environment with strong judgment and decision-making skills.

Position Details:

• Annual patient volume of 15,000.
• Current emergency department with 8 beds, with plans for a 4-bed expansion.
• 24-hour physician coverage daily.
• Support from Advanced Practice Providers.
• Level IV Trauma designation.
• 1099 employment status with up to 120 hours available.
• Utilization of Meditech Expanse EMR system.

About the Facility:

• 84 inpatient beds available.
• 8 Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum (LDRP) rooms and a C-Section operating suite.
• 6 operating rooms, 2 endoscopy suites, and 2 palliative care suites.
• 1 cardiac/interventional catheterization lab.
• Our healthcare system operates 12 locations across a 14-county area, providing a wide range of services including emergency care, interventional radiology, cardiac catheterizations, orthopedic surgery, home care, hospice, urology, vascular services, laboratory services, wound care, and women’s health, along with both inpatient and outpatient surgical options.
• Recognized as a Fortune/Merative Top 100 Hospital nine times, recently named a Top 20 Rural Hospital, and awarded the prestigious Malcolm Baldrige Quality Award.
• Our organization is a 50-50 partnership between a major community health funding source for uninsured patients and a leading national healthcare provider.
