Job Title: Maintenance Technician - Process Control & Instrumentation

Job Description

This role focuses on maintaining, troubleshooting, and continuously improving electrical, mechanical, and process control systems within a food production environment. The Maintenance Technician works with analog and digital electronic control systems, PLCs, HMIs, and computer network communications to ensure reliable operation of production lines and compliance with safety and manufacturing standards.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and resolve electrical problems, providing effective troubleshooting and continuous improvement on analog and digital electronic control systems, PLC programming, HMI systems, and computer network communications.

• Document and implement work order procedures for new equipment and technology, ensuring complete and accurate documentation of all system modifications.

• Install and maintain process control instruments, both pneumatic and electronic, in accordance with equipment specifications.

• Repair, calibrate, and clean instruments, pressure switches, flow tubes, and gauges to minimize downtime and optimize utilization of pneumatic and electronic equipment.

• Maintain proper flow of production processes by ensuring correct machine settings and speeds.

• Monitor key process points and maintain detailed records to ensure compliance with established standards and operating parameters.

• Act as a primary troubleshooter to identify line performance issues and assist in diagnosing and correcting them.

• Install, adjust, and repair processing equipment according to technical specifications and operational requirements.

• Maintain equipment using a Planned Maintenance Program, performing preventive maintenance to reduce unplanned outages.

• Ensure the safety of all employees by continuously monitoring compliance with safety procedures and evaluating processes for potential safety risks.

• Oversee strict observance of all safety rules and exercise extreme caution around moving machinery and production equipment.

• Maintain general housekeeping standards in maintenance and production areas, actively working toward a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

• Ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) in all maintenance and production-related activities.

Essential Skills

• Hands-on experience in maintenance repair for industrial equipment and production machinery.

• Strong mechanical repair skills, including the ability to diagnose and fix mechanical issues on processing equipment.

• Proficiency in electrical work, including electrical wiring, troubleshooting electrical problems, and working with electronic control systems.

• Experience with hydraulics and pneumatics, including installation, maintenance, and repair of pneumatic and hydraulic systems.

• Demonstrated ability in preventive maintenance, including adherence to a Planned Maintenance Program.

• Proven troubleshooting skills across mechanical, electrical, and control systems to quickly identify root causes and implement solutions.

• Ability to work safely around moving machinery and production lines, consistently following safety procedures and guidelines.

• Capability to maintain accurate records and documentation for process monitoring, work orders, and system modifications.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Two-year certificate from a college or technical school in a relevant field, or six to twelve months of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Familiarity with PLC programming and HMI systems in a production or industrial environment.

• Experience working with process control instruments, including pressure switches, flow tubes, gauges, and related equipment.

• Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and compliance requirements in a production setting.

• Ability to work effectively within a team of approximately 6-10 people, collaborating with production and maintenance staff.

• Strong attention to detail in documentation, calibration, and equipment adjustments.

• Comfort working in a food production facility and adhering to strict cleanliness and safety standards.

Work Environment

The role is based in a food production facility with a controlled environment focused on cleanliness, safety, and product quality. The work involves operating around moving machinery and process equipment, with a strong emphasis on safety compliance and Good Manufacturing Practices. The maintenance team size is approximately 6-10 people, providing a collaborative environment where technicians work closely with production staff to keep lines running efficiently and reliably.

This is a Permanent position based out of FARIBAULT, MN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $50000.00 - $80000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.

Tuition reimbursement for relevant schooling/training to the field

For the Holiday Schedule all days listed are paid without needing to use any PTO. The plant shutdown varies each year based on when the holidays fall but it is always Christmas Eve through New Year's Day is our shutdown time. President's Day this year was our floating holiday so that is not always the same.

For the medical premiums the cost does drop for the following year if they do the biometric screen in October at our on-site wellness fair. That information is listed on page 13 in the benefit guide.

There is a wellness program that employees can earn anywhere from $75-$150 based on how many points they earn throughout the year and is paid out to them early January of the following year.

Fitness Club reimbursement program that after 8 visits in one calendar month we reimburse $20 to help with gym membership fees and we provide a discount on fitness tracking devices (fitbit) the company will pay up to $30 on your first purchase of a fitbit whether the purchase is made through the client or if the employee purchases one on their own. client offers company paid life insurance, long term and short term disability, and 401K plans that Faribault Foods, Inc. matches %50 of employee contributions up to %6.

Employees are eligible for all benefits at 60 days except 401K employees are eligible at 90 days.
