HR Generalist

HR Generalist Location: Chicago, IL Compensation: $65,000–$75,000 annually Hours: 7:30 AM–4:00 PM preferred; 8:00 AM start available. Eight working hours per day, excluding a 30- or 60-minute lunch. Company Overview A manufacturing company is seeking an HR Generalist to support day-to-day human resources operations at its Chicago-area facility while providing additional HR support to another U.S. plant. Position Summary The HR Generalist will support recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, attendance administration, benefits, HR systems, and employee programs. This is an office-based, fully onsite role with regular interaction with employees on the manufacturing floor. ADP experience is required. Key Responsibilities Manage full-cycle recruiting, interviews, staffing coordination, new hire documentation, and recruiting agency relationships. Facilitate new hire orientation and maintain employee information in HR and benefits systems. Support attendance tracking, call-off administration, termination documentation, and other employee records. Assist with employee relations, coaching, disciplinary processes, and workplace concerns. Support employee benefits administration and HR-related employee communications. Help coordinate employee programs, company events, and morale initiatives. Partner with safety/EHS personnel regarding incidents, meetings, and workplace safety initiatives. Maintain onsite uniform inventory and assist with other HR projects as needed. Provide HR support to an additional manufacturing facility as required. Qualifications Required: 3–5 years of related HR experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with ADP. Working knowledge of HR processes, terminology, and programs. Proficiency with Microsoft Office. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work professionally with employees and management at all levels. Strong attention to detail, organization, and ability to manage competing priorities. Sound judgment and discretion when handling confidential information. Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment and interacting with employees on the production floor. Preferred: HR-related certification. Other Details Work is primarily performed in an office within a manufacturing facility and may also involve warehouse or production areas. PPE may be required in designated areas. The environment may include noise, dust, fumes, or odors. Ability to lift or move approximately 20–50 lbs may occasionally be required.
