Job Summary: Provide comprehensive health support to students by minimizing absences due to illness and fostering a healthy school environment. Facilitate the educational process by addressing and removing health-related barriers, promoting optimal well-being, and enhancing quality medical and health education experiences. Supervise non-licensed and licensed practical nurses as assigned.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Fiscal Responsibility: Efficiently manage supplies and equipment, streamline processes to reduce waste, complete duties promptly, and document scheduled hours accurately. Participate in scheduled education and maintain proper documentation.
• Quality: Deliver quality triage, treatment, and first aid for ill or injured students. Stay current with state health board standards and policy changes. Demonstrate critical thinking, multitasking, positive attitude, and appropriate delegation. Develop Individualized Healthcare Plans when necessary.
• Patient Satisfaction: Communicate effectively and empathetically with students, staff, and parents. Maintain confidentiality and professionalism. Provide genuine care tailored to student needs and support the educational process by addressing health barriers.
• Patient Safety: Adhere to universal precautions, fall prevention, safe patient mobilization, and accurate vital sign assessment. Administer medications safely using two patient identifiers, maintain accurate records, and stay informed on pharmacology. Educate students and parents as needed and ensure mandated immunizations/testing are completed annually. Train school personnel on student health protocols and implement approved medical director protocols.
• Professional Growth: Maintain competency through routine substitute work. Exhibit leadership and serve as a role model and resource for staff. Engage in professional organizations, councils, and continuing education such as conferences and webinars.
• Customer Service: Uphold high customer service standards, address ethical issues, and embody nursing mission and values. Foster positive relationships with students, parents, staff, and the community. Provide holistic care to diverse student populations and support future healthcare students and education programs. Maintain a professional and calm clinical environment and perform clinical procedures within scope of license and protocols.

Education and Experience Required:

• Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing with an Associate in Nursing Degree required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred or required within five years of hire.
• Minimum two years of experience in health care related to school-age children or prior school nursing experience preferred.
• BLS certification and computer proficiency required.
• Area-specific required education to be obtained upon hire and maintained.

Licensure/Certifications: Current active Registered Nurse licensure by the state nursing board.

Work Shift: Day shift in a regional setting within the Midwest United States.
